More than 20 million people visit Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom every single year, making it the most popular theme park by attendance in the world. So, the one thing you are guaranteed to face when visiting here is queues.

The most popular ride at Disney is the legendary Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but you could watch an entire game of football before you manage to get on. With average waiting times of 83 minutes for the mine train, you need to know how to make the most of your dream visit to Disney. That’s why we have created this short list on how you can beat the queues and make the most of your time at Disney.

1. The Early Bird Catches The Worm

The rides at Magic Kingdom open at 9am, but you can get your tickets and be ready to ride before then. So drag everyone out of bed nice and early and prepare to be one of the first people through the gates for around 8.30am. There’s no point rocking up any earlier than that as the Monorail Station is not in operation until 8.45am.

2. Download the My Disney Experience app

Disney’s innovative app keeps you informed of waiting times so you can work out what to do and what to avoid.
Why queue for up to an hour when there are plenty of other rides to try in the meantime. Get more bang for your buck!

3. Beat The Queues With Disney’s Fast Pass System

Pick your three favourite rides with Disney’s new FP+ system and you are guaranteed not to be waiting around forever as you will be given specific time slots.

4. Avoid The Main Street

You may be overwhelmed by Cinderella’s castle and the larger than life cast members, but do not spend valuable time taking pictures first thing in the morning. Get yourself to the rides, you have the rest of the day to to take pictures of your surroundings.

5. Be Prepared

With the wealth of information at your fingertips nowadays you can plan your trip to Disney days, weeks or months in advance. Our advice is to go big first. Get the big rides out of the way as soon as possible. Not only will it help you overcome your fears for the rest of the day, you will also save yourself time.

6. Don’t Be A Sheep, Be Smart

There is nothing wrong with taking time out from the rides to explore the rest of the park. While everyone else is queuing, visit the shops, grab a bite to eat, meet the colourful characters and visit places like Tom Sawyer’s Island. Take this time to recharge your batteries and get ready for the fun to start again.

7. Avoid certain days

The busiest day at Magic Kingdom is Monday, with Friday and Saturday also popular. Try and visit in the middle of the week when the park is slightly less busy, this will help you maximise your visit – allowing you to experience every ride you wanted to try.

And of course the best advice is to make sure you stay at El Bella Villa in Kissimmee, which is within 20-30 minutes from all the major theme parks.
